Questions to Ask Your Wedding Videographer

Why should I hire a wedding videographer?

Hiring a wedding videographer is the only way to truly be everywhere at once. On your wedding day, there are a million things going through your mind which makes it difficult to remember the intricate details you spent months planning, or what was said during the toasts. We at Bluebird Videography pride ourselves in being able to tell engaging timeless stories, while also recreating your wedding day for you from every angle possible.

How many types of packages and features are available?

We have two set packages, a gold and silver package. Our silver package is the "bare minimum" that we need to be able to capture an emotional wedding video. The gold package is a step up from the silver package in that we include an additional day of filming, separate from the wedding day. This allows us to give you your own personal video shoot without the stress of everything happening on your wedding day. It also adds another story element to your wedding film that we think is well worth your investment.

We also have additional a la carte items that can be added on to either package or used to construct a unique package for you and your partner. Some of these items include an additional location, longer film time, and different edits options. If there is something else you are looking for, just ask! This is your day, and we want to do everything we can to create the film of your dreams.

How do you pick the music for my film? Can I pick my own music?

I pick the music based on you and your partner’s vibe, and the entire mood of the wedding. Some ceremonies and receptions require a more upbeat sound and others are more soft and romantic.

You cannot choose your own music due to copyright concerns. The music used in your video is purchased through a third party source by my team.

Do you film weddings outside of Texas?

I do film outside of Texas. I absolutely love traveling, and would be happy to film wherever you and your partner feel is right for your special day, both domestically and internationally.

How long does it take to get the final video?

Time varies based on length of video and package selection, but generally there is a two to three month turnaround for the final product.

How do you manage to capture excellent audio?

If available, I capture audio directly from the audio feed coming through the speaker during the ceremony. If your ceremony is not mic’d, I supply lapel mics to bride, groom, and officiant to deliver quality sound. All the audio is then enhanced in post

Are there different wedding video styles are out there?

There are definitely different wedding styles from videographer to videographer. We at Bluebird Videographer specialize in cinematic highlight films with a very distinct look. But not everyone wants our style, which is perfectly ok. We love going outside our comfort zone and create the style that YOU want. If you have references from photos or other videos, show them to us! We are here to make the video that you WANT to watch 50 years from now.

How far in advance should I book my videographer?

We suggest booking us or any videographer at least 2-3 months in advance. This is to ensure we are available on your date, and so we can get to know who we are filming. Understanding who you and your partner are will help us to create the best story possible. But we also realize that every situation is different and there is no one size fits all. We are here to accommodate for any situation. If you book us a week in advance of your wedding, we will be sure to make your video just as amazing as the rest!

How does the videographer refrain from being intrusive during the ceremony?

During the ceremony and reception, we try to remain as discreet as possible. We setup our equipment so it does not block the view for you or any of your guests while still being able to capture the most important shots. We also make sure to communicate with other vendors also partaking in the big day. We strive to build strong communication before and on the day to make it easy for the bride and groom to have a worry free spectacular wedding day.

Any additional advice…

When my wife and I got married, the one regret we had after our wedding is we didn't hire a wedding videographer. After talking with a few brides that didn't hire one, they all say that was their number one regret.
